Don't deny the talent of RVP!

He had arguably his best season in an Arsenal shirt, scoring 37 goals in 48 appearances, including 15 assists. Hat-tricks and goals were smashed into the back of the net, home and away, in big games and small, when his team needed him most, he bailed them out of jail. Yet fans across the world continue to deny the quality and class of Robin Van Persie.

There is no denying his fair share of injury problems in the past. It's also true that he's never had a season as good as that, but how many top strikers score 30+ goals year in year out? If I look at United's strikers, I feel only Rooney can fit into the same class a category, in which Van Persie fits. The truth is, Rooney has only scored 30+ goals in two of his eight seasons at United. It's impossible to stay right at the top year in year out, very few players have ever done that, in recent times I can only think of two. Ronaldo and Messi.

Fans and pundits always debate on Van Persie's injures and emphasise how he's always out. But statistics tell me he's only played less than 30+ games in only two of his eight seasons at Arsenal. Sir Alex has admitted he's approached Arsenal and made a bid for the star. Surely the best of managers wouldn't be in for someone if he's always injured. So is the injury prone story just a myth? Yes he is 29 and he won't be getting any younger, but we signed Berbatov at almost the same age. Berbatov had never hit the heights of Van Persie, but we were desperate to sign him, so why are fans being sceptical?

I know United don't normally go out and buy big stars. We like to buy younger players and develop them into superstars. That's one of the great facts about United. However, buying one superstar every now and again shouldn't be frowned upon. Of course this is just my opinion, but that's the beauty of football. It's a game of opinions. I just believe Van Persie is a world class striker. When in top form, he really does score when he wants and I would be absolutely delighted to see Van the man in a red shirt next season.

Van Persie had a good career at Arsenal, but he never got anywhere near the amount of trophies a player of his calibre deserves. A man once said, every great story, demands a great ending. I can see that great ending being completed at the theatre of dreams. I have to also remember, that we might not even sign him and if we don't, where ever he goes, he'll surely be a success. Lets see what happens.
