The truth on transfers!

Year after year, United fans have to suffer the rumours and lies that are spread throughout the media. Last year it was Sneijder and this year it was Hazard. Various sources claimed the stars had chosen to join United. or claimed to have inside information. Unfortunately, this just got our hopes up and in the end we were left disappointed.

I always believed the media reported the truth. Sadly I've come to learn that the majority of them spew lies and rumours. Most journalists seem to get their information from twitter, they don't carry out any research. All it takes is for someone to tweet a rumour, or an idea and a journalist will create a story on the player. Why? Well a big headline with "Sneijder set to join United" will sell and it's a sensationalised story. People will enjoy reading that!

So why United? Why not any other club? The problem is, we are the biggest club in the world. We have the biggest fan base in the world and in England. So anything regarding United has the most chance of selling. Of course some papers do report facts and even if the story is just pure speculation, it can turn out to be a good read, but people need to stop accepting everything they read as the truth.

So who are United going to sign? Well Sir Alex Ferguson said in his press conference, "one player but possibly two." So this indicates to me the following. We are in desperate need of a left back. No disrespect to Brady, but if Evra gets injured in March, we cannot afford to play Brady against Barcelona. So a left back surely has to be the priority. Sir Alex said hopefully we can get one more. There has been speculation surrounding Moura and Van Persie, but I won't get my hopes up.

Why Moura after we've just signed a attacking midfielder in Shinji Kagawa? Van Persie seems the more likely option for me but I still doubt that. Signing the Dutchman would be a huge buy and we're not desperate for a striker, yet it would be exciting to see how he'd pair up with Wayne Rooney. A left back is the definite signing for me and anything else is a bonus. With Vidic back and the addition of Kagawa and Powell, we are looking very strong. This is adding to a team that came away with 89 points last season. This can only leave a bright future for Manchester United!
